v1.3.1 — Signage Readiness, Registration Reliability & Page Loading
Version: v1.3.1
What Changed For Your Team
This release focuses on reliability across several common workflows. Venue teams gain better visibility into holding playlist health — operators can now see which items are not showing on any screen and web-page items can play directly on venue display hardware. Registration staff working with approval-required cancellation changes will find the review flow no longer errors after approving. Event images now load correctly on the first visit to a public homepage. Report configurations that reference invalid relationships now return a clear explanation rather than a server error.
Highlights
See Which Holding Items Are Not on the Wall
The ema signage cockpit now tells venue operators which items in a holding playlist are not currently showing on any screen. An item may be off-screen because no display is paired to that room, because the device has gone offline, or because the item has a readiness issue such as a missing asset. Operators can see this at a glance without having to walk the floor or poll each display.
This cockpit change is a hosted update and applies to all venues using the ema on-site cockpit.
Play Web Content in Holding Playlists on Venue Hardware
Holding playlists can now include web-page items — URLs that the venue display hardware loads and renders during gaps between scheduled sessions. The appliance validates every request the web frame makes against a permitted-destination list, so only approved content plays on screen.
This capability requires the ema on-site appliance to be updated. See What You Need to Do below.
Detailed Changes
Signage and Venue Operations
- Operators can see which holding playlist items are not currently showing on any paired display, making it easier to identify offline devices or missing assets before an event begins.
- Holding playlists now support web-page items. When a session has not yet started, the display can load and render a live web page rather than only images or video.
- All network requests a holding web item makes are vetted by an allowlist configured on the appliance, not just the initial navigation. This prevents unexpected content from loading within a web holding item.
Registration and Approvals
- Reviewing an approval-required cancellation change request no longer causes an error after staff click Approve. The impact-preview panel was incorrectly refetching after the approval completed; it now stays stable.
- Reviewed registrations created with an invoice preview no longer stall during creation.
Finance
- The Delete option for a financial order is now hidden when the order's current status does not permit deletion. Previously the option appeared for all orders, causing a failed request if a staff member clicked it on a paid or confirmed order.
Reports and Branding
- Report configurations that reference an invalid relationship between two data types now return a clear validation message. Previously these returned an unhelpful server error that gave no indication of what needed to change.
- Branding saves that include a merge tag unsupported at the current level are now rejected before saving, preventing email sends that would have contained unrendered tag text.
Event Pages
- Event images on public homepages now render correctly during the initial page load. A previous issue caused images to appear blank on the first visit before resolving after a background refresh.
What You Need to Do
If your event uses holding playlists with web-page items: the new web content playback feature requires the ema on-site appliance software to be updated. Contact your ema support team to schedule the appliance update before adding web-page items to a holding playlist. The cockpit visibility improvement (seeing which items are not on the wall) is already available without a device update.
No action is required for the registration, finance, report, and page loading fixes. These take effect automatically.
Additional Improvements and Fixes
- Programme changes — including submission status transitions and talk author updates — are now captured in the project audit trail, giving teams a clearer history of programme decisions.
- AI-powered content dialogs handle validation errors from generated content more gracefully, displaying the issue to the user instead of failing silently or producing an unhandled rejection.
