Executive sponsor

Owns the commercial relationship and carries the result. Wants to know the bid is worth winning, that the margin survives contact with delivery, and that nothing has been promised the team cannot honour — not the detail of how it gets done.

Where they work

Inside the event operator's own workspace, across the whole portfolio rather than one event. They sign in rarely and read more than they write.

What they are responsible for

Whether a piece of work is worth taking, and whether it made money once it was delivered. That means the bid, the price, the margin the budget promised, and the margin the books eventually showed.

What they can do

  • Look at pipeline and deal value across every project, not just one.
  • Read budgets, cash position, and margin without going through anyone.
  • Approve the commitments their role is named on.
  • Read the reports a client is sent, before the client sees them.

What they cannot do

  • Run an event. Scheduling, registration, and supplier work belong to the project lead.
  • See detail their role has not been given access to — seniority is not a master key here.

Journeys they take part in

These are the end-to-end chains of work that name them — the steps they own, and the ones that only affect them.

Journey pages need an operator sign-in to open.
